Purpose of this index
The Register of Withheld Locations records the existence of Athenaeum sites, thresholds, storage rooms, and institutional addresses that are not disclosed on the public site map or entrance register. The index records that such locations exist; it does not disclose their identity, position, or access conditions.
What the index contains
Each entry in the index is assigned a reference number, a category (site, threshold, storage room, or unclassified), a withholding basis (security, source-community request, frame stability, courier safety, or Registrar's discretion), and the date the entry was added. No further information is contained in the public index.
What is withheld
The name, location, frame designation, access conditions, and object contents of each listed location are withheld. The total number of entries in the full register is not disclosed. The institution confirms that the number of withheld locations is greater than zero.
How entries are added
Entries are added to the register by the Registrar on the recommendation of the Frame Integrity department, a relevant partner organisation, or the source community associated with a location. Entries may be upgraded from public to withheld at any time where circumstances require.
