Purpose
The Register of Interests records declarations made by staff, Conservation Committee members, and advisers regarding financial, professional, personal, or custodial interests that could affect, or appear to affect, their decisions relating to the institution's collections, partnerships, or governance.
What must be declared
Declarations should cover: financial interests in organisations that supply to or partner with the Athenaeum; personal relationships with parties to custody agreements or repatriation claims; membership of other organisations with overlapping objects; and custody relationships with objects or entities that are, or may become, connected to the collections.
Interests should be declared on appointment and updated within twenty working days of any material change.
Access to the register
The register is available for inspection by members of the Conservation Committee and by any partner organisation with a current custody agreement, on request to the Registrar. A summary of declared interests is included in the Annual Report where relevant to governance decisions taken during the year.
