Has anyone changed their mind in this thread besides Gilgamesh?

For the record, I have not changed from wonder to no wonder. I changed from one expensive paperback answer to a pile of harder questions. It feels less like losing faith than having better furniture.

That may be my favourite conversion testimony on this board.

New magazine article tying Gobekli Tepe to the Anunnaki. Since Adrian is in both threads, thoughts?

Chronology first. Gobekli Tepe is many thousands of years before the Sumerian texts under discussion. It is astonishing on its own terms. Dragging Anunnaki into it because both are ancient is like using a Roman road to explain a Neolithic handaxe because both are old. Old is not a culture.

Also, absence of writing at Gobekli is not a vacancy sign for any myth you want to move in. Silence in the record is not free real estate.

Ancient sites all point to one older source though. That is the lost civilisation argument.

They point to humans repeatedly solving hard problems under pressure with memory, ritual and labour. One older source is emotionally tidy. It is not yet evidentially necessary.
I believe exactly one thread on this board. Guess which. -- the 5%
