I remain open to deeper continuities than standard archaeology likes to admit. But continuity is not the same as a single source, and symbolic inheritance is not the same as technical instruction. Those distinctions are where good anomalies survive.

Final answer is the wrong shape. The thread has produced a better filter: tablet before claim, genre before leap, local category before modern machine, awe after correction rather than before it.

That filter is the answer I can live with. It will not sell books because it cannot be printed on a cover with a planet behind it.

I used the filter in a museum shop last week and it saved me fifteen pounds on a glossy book with a spaceship on the cover. Adrian, you are now technically a financial adviser.
