I have taken Uwe and Harz into the big-cats thread with the correction. Not as proof of a cat, but as proof of how a rumour changes when a file has only "not proven." The English thread needed that distinction. Otherwise "not dog" becomes "panther" before lunch.

This is the leaky bridge at its best: the German correction leaves this room and improves an English argument.

Marek translated my forest post for the cryptid people and I read the English with dictionary. It is strange to see my village words in English. Smaller. Cleaner. Maybe too clean.

But Cascade_Cat asked good questions, not stupid ones. Distance, track, wind, what dogs were near. I can answer some. So the bridge works, even if something is lost crossing it. Maybe a bridge always loses mud from the boots.

From north: winter makes people post less and see more. That is not a contradiction. You are outside in dark, in bad weather, tired, and every light has a halo. Also tracks stay longer. So in winter the witness gets worse and the ground gets better. Use ground.

I read Europe desk because you do not translate cold into romance. Keep it that way.

Six months in and I think we have proved Curator right. This is not a silo like Asia desk. We talk here in Polish, German, French, English, sometimes other languages, but the useful cases do not stay locked here. Belgian chronology went out. Kapustin document culture went out. Big cats got German corrections. Bartek got field questions he would never have asked in English first.

A bridge is not a gate. But it still needs someone sweeping the boards and fixing loose planks. Dziękuję wszystkim.

The important thing is that nobody had to earn English before being useful. The original languages stayed alive, and when the evidence was strong enough, a sourced summary crossed the bridge. Keep doing that in 2003. Mind the translation. Mind the person behind it.
