Interstellar travel achieved. Shovel logistics unsolved.

The inefficiency is a clue that the story is not an engineering proposition. It is a myth about labour, burden and the reason human life is shaped by work. When modern readers make it literal engineering, the gods become worse engineers than Bronze Age administrators.

I argued this with my uncle and caught myself saying "show me the tablet." I may be lost to the footnote cult now.

Are you saying there is no mystery left after proper translation?

The opposite. Proper translation restores the mysteries that bad translation bulldozes. Why do kings before the flood reign for impossible spans? Why does civilisation arrive from watery sages? Why does base-60 carry so much administrative genius? Why does divine assembly language do political work so well? Those are hard mysteries. A secret planet is a shortcut around them.

The hard mysteries have the advantage of still being alive after correction. A false claim dies when the word is fixed. A real problem deepens.

Does anyone have a link to the King List translation Adrian trusts?
