Not stupid. That is exactly the kind of analogy that keeps the archive humble.

Does anyone here actually read cuneiform or are we all quoting translations of translations?

I can work through transliterations slowly with dictionaries and sign lists. I am not a professional Assyriologist and do not pretend to be one. That is why I keep pointing to standard editions rather than declaring my private revelation from a photocopy.

What is the best single example where Sitchin mistranslates something important?

The famous "rocket ships" and "flying machines" are often not translations so much as interpretive paraphrases laid over divine weapons, boats, standards, storms or shining phenomena. But the deepest problem is not one word. It is the method: every sign bends toward the thesis, and no text is allowed to remain in its own genre. Myth, omen, king list, hymn and late astronomy all get poured into one blender.

Blender method is useful language. It explains why debunking one ingredient never kills the smoothie. The believer can always point to another fragment because the claim was never located in one document to begin with.
