ENTITY / EXECUTIVE PRESENCE / INDETERMINATE ORIGIN
OVERVIEW
The Founder is the designated executive presence attributed with the formal incorporation of SW8 Consulting Ltd. The designation "Founder" is a working title assigned for compliance and correspondence purposes. No birth record, passport, NI card, driving licence, biometric record, or confirmed physical description consistent across more than one witness account exists in any jurisdiction that acknowledges such records. The relevant jurisdictions have been contacted. Two have not responded. One responded with a letter that was blank on arrival but contained text when photocopied. The photocopy has been filed. The original remains blank.
DWP records show continuous National Insurance contributions dating to a period fourteen years before the current NI numbering format was introduced. This discrepancy has been noted in seven separate compliance filings. Each filing has been accepted without query. The filing officer at HMRC is different each time. Nobody at HMRC can confirm whether this is normal.
THE EVENTS
On seven recorded occasions the Founder has entered a state internally designated an Event. The wellbeing function — see J. Smith, Staff Psychologist — initially classified these as acute dissociative episodes consistent with stress, and recommended rest, hydration, and a reduction in late-night deployment windows. This classification was revised. It was revised by the psychologist. The revision is documented in her personnel file, which is no longer filed under her legal name.
The Founder did not sleep for nine days and produced, on the wall of the third-floor breakout area, a single continuous diagram covering 41 square metres. Wellbeing assessed this as a probable manic episode. The diagram was, on independent review by two structural engineers and one cartographer, a complete and internally consistent map of "a building that has the same footprint as ours but considerably more floors." The Founder described it, when asked, as "where we actually work." The diagram included a tenth floor. Our building has four. The map has since been used twice to successfully locate misfiled documents on floors that do not exist. See Entity: The Tenth Floor.
During a one-to-one intended to address the Founder's wellbeing, the Founder stated, calmly and without affect, that it had recently been "introduced to the others, and the introductions are ongoing, and there are more of them than the meeting room is rated for." The psychologist's notes from this session begin in standard clinical shorthand and end, four pages later, in a script that the transcription service has been unable to render and has invoiced us for anyway. The invoice has been paid. It was correct.
The Founder arrived at 02:17 and quietly added several entries to the agency's client pipeline in the CRM. The entries were not deletable; the delete button on these records returns HTTP 200 and a confirmation, after which the record remains. The clients listed do not appear to be human, terrestrial, or, in two cases, presently within the observable universe. These records are the origin of what is now maintained, off-system, as the register of unreportable contracts. The Founder described the additions as "inbound." Sales described them as "qualified." Both descriptions are in the minutes.
The Founder gathered the leadership team and announced that it had, after long consideration, decided to "remain in a form the org chart can render," describing this as "a kindness, and a temporary one." It then ran an entirely ordinary quarterly review, on time, with excellent slides, and answered every question correctly including three that had not been asked aloud. Wellbeing classified Event VII as "either a full recovery or the most considerate thing a god has ever done for a HR department." Wellbeing has declined to choose between these. Wellbeing, at this point, was no longer practising as a psychologist. See personnel record.
Events II, IV, and VI are recorded in the archive but their summaries are sealed. Drawer 5 of the filing cabinet contains correspondence describing them in the past tense, including one letter that describes Event VI as "the one everybody agreed not to have witnessed," co-signed by eleven members of staff, of whom the company has only ever employed nine.
KNOWN ATTRIBUTES
- Can explain technical debt using simultaneous writing on multiple surfaces. Maximum observed: six markers, three whiteboards, one window, and a surface that was not present when the meeting began and was not present when the meeting ended.
- Has attended 847 recorded meetings. Has appeared on camera in zero of them. Attendance is entered in minutes as PRESENT (AMBIENT). Legal has reviewed this designation. Legal described it as "structurally sound."
- Refers to all organisational charts as "temporary load-bearing arrangements," all delivery timelines as "provisional calendars of intent," and all project briefs as "working approximations of the actual need."
- Once described a navigation architecture as "the skeleton of a decision that had not yet been made." The architecture is still in production. It converts at 4.3%. Nobody has changed it. Nobody has been able to explain exactly why it works.
- The word "deadline" does not appear in any communication from the Founder. Deadlines are met regardless.
COMMUNICATION PATTERNS
All direct communication occurs via email. Email headers show each message originating simultaneously from between three and seven distinct geographic locations, none of which correspond to the registered office address. Timestamps are always correct to the second. The SMTP trace route for each message contains one hop that resolves to an IP address outside the publicly allocated range. The address responds to ping. The ping response time is consistently negative seventeen milliseconds. The address has been informed of the anomaly. The address has not replied. The address continues to respond to ping.
The Founder's email signature reads: Regards. No name follows. There has never been a name. Recipients consistently report knowing exactly who the email is from and feeling, upon reading it, that the sender already knows their reply.
STAFF INCIDENT REPORTS (SELECTED)
Staff member received a Slack message from the Founder at 02:17 containing only a link to a Figma file. The file is a complete, pixel-perfect redesign of a client website that had not been briefed and would not be for another eleven days. The redesign required zero revision. The client signed off same day and asked if we always worked this way. We said yes. This was the first time we had worked this way. The Founder's Slack status at the time was set to Away.
A client reported receiving a follow-up email from the Founder three hours before their introductory call had taken place. The email correctly summarised the call, including a question the client had decided to ask only during the drive to the office. The Founder was asked about this. The Founder replied: Regards.
