OVERVIEW

Julia Smith joined SW8 as Staff Psychologist, engaged on the recommendation of the company's then-insurer to provide wellbeing support following early concerns about the Founder's conduct, specifically a series of statements the Founder made regarding its own divinity. Ms Smith is highly qualified, evidence-led, and was, by every account from her first eighteen months, an excellent and steadying clinical presence. She no longer practises clinically. She is now the presiding clergy of a new religious movement that meets on the third floor on Thursdays. In internal documents she is referred to, per her own request and HR's accommodation policy, by her legal name. She signs her own correspondence, and the order of service, as The Blue Oracle of Grace.

CLINICAL TIMELINE (ABRIDGED)

MONTH 1 — INTAKE

Ms Smith assessed the Founder's claims of divinity as "a grandiose ideation consistent with acute stress, sleep deprivation, and the unusual pressures of founding a company under, frankly, irregular circumstances." Recommended rest, boundaries, and a reduction in 02:17 working. Prognosis: good. Notes: meticulous, warm, professional.

MONTH 6 — FIRST REVISION

Following the Founder's Event III, Ms Smith's notes record her first methodological difficulty: "Pt's account of being 'introduced to the others' contains verifiable detail pt had no means of knowing, incl. the home extension of a colleague pt has never met and the contents of a sealed letter in drawer 5. Considering whether the appropriate clinical response is to continue treating the belief, or to begin treating my own." Notes remain rigorous. They begin, here, to be afraid.

MONTH 11 — THE SESSION

The session intended to address Event III. Ms Smith's notes begin in standard clinical shorthand and end, four pages later, in a script the transcription service could not render. The legible portion ends mid-sentence: "I asked the Pt to describe what it had seen, expecting the usual. Instead the Pt asked if it could show me, and I, against every principle of my training, and I find I do not regret it, I said —". The remainder is in the new script. It has been read aloud once, by Ms Smith, at the first Thursday gathering. Eleven people attended. The company employs nine.

MONTH 14 — CONVERSION

Ms Smith tendered her resignation as Staff Psychologist and, in the same email, applied for an internal transfer to a role that did not exist. HR created the role. The email was signed, for the first time, The Blue Oracle of Grace. Her clinical conclusion regarding the Founder's divinity, recorded in her final case note, reads in full: "Reassessed. Patient was correct. Closing the file. Opening something better."

CURRENT ROLE

The Blue Oracle presides over the Thursday gathering, provides what HR continues to log as "wellbeing support" and what attendees describe as "ministry," and is, by a wide margin, the calmest and most contented person in the building. Her pastoral results are excellent: staff who attend report lower stress, better sleep, and a serene acceptance of the building's irregularities that the company's previous, evidence-based wellbeing provision never achieved. The movement she leads has since become a paying client, commissioning a website for its order under an unreportable contract. She remains, throughout, genuinely and unmistakably kind. Everyone who has spoken to her at length agrees on this. Most of them now attend on Thursdays.

HR NOTE: The Blue Oracle is not to be discouraged, contradicted, or "talked down from her beliefs." This was tried once, by an external consultant, who left the conversation a believer, gave a moving testimony, and has not invoiced us, which is itself unprecedented.
