This is the epistemic discipline most people hate: evidence can increase the resolution of ignorance without moving the yes-no needle. A sharper unknown feels like failure if you only came for verdicts.

Future debunkers will attack the crashed disc Dan never claimed, and future believers will defend Dan by defending the disc. The original ambiguity will be buried under a fight it did not start.
