Ledger rules, first pass.

1. Predictions must be posted before the window opens.
2. Each prediction gets a failure condition in the same post.
3. No private charts, no romance readings, no "felt true" scoring.
4. Misses go first in each update.
5. Occams gets to grade beside me and I do not get to veto the grade.

Calls now open:

A. 21 Sep through 28 Sep: one ugly market week in the US, not just a normal red day. Failure condition: no broad index closes down 3 percent or more within the window.

B. 03 Oct through 12 Oct: a visible cabinet or senior-ministry resignation in either the UK or US. Failure condition: no resignation of that level, no counting staff gossip.

C. 18 Oct through 26 Oct: transport disruption involving rail or air, with labour language in the public explanation. Failure condition: weather-only or security-only disruption does not count.

Three calls. Dated. Laugh later, not yet.

Accepted with two notes.

A is still soft because markets move. Three percent helps. B is clean. C is medium-soft because transport disruption is common and labour language is common. I will mark it but discount it unless the match is narrow.

That is not hostility. That is calibration. If this thing works, it should survive me being annoying about base rates.

this is the first astrology thread on the internet that made me more bored and therefore more trusting

I am going to step back. I do not want to damage work that matters to Sue, and I can feel that my language is not the language this thread needs.

For what it is worth, I do not feel mocked by Occams. I feel measured. That is different, and perhaps I should have noticed the difference earlier.

[staff] Since my inbox is now full of "make a ruling" mail: no, there will not be a ban on astrology topics.

The rule is claim hygiene. Not topic hygiene. If your claim is public, predictive, medical, financial, evidential, or accusatory, expect to be asked what would prove you wrong. If your claim is private devotion, do not dress it up as public evidence. That is it.

This thread is now the reference link for that argument. Congratulations and condolences.

I am reading this with interest from the numbers side. If astrology gets a public ledger, gematria should probably get one too, yes? Not to hijack, just noting that "define the miss" is the exact place our arguments fall apart.

Gita, yes, but not in here. Start it in numerology if you want the pain.

The same rule will bite there: a pattern noticed after the fact is not a prediction, it is an arrangement. Arrangements are worth studying. Predictions are worth scoring. Confusing them is how every one of these methods gets flabby.

I have just watched a cable skeptic special splice three astrologers into clown music and then cut away before any of the dated calls were shown. This is why I am furious about standards. Bad astrology deserves a beating. Edited-for-laughter skepticism deserves one too.

If you only show the misses, you are not doing science. If you only show the hits, you are not doing astrology worth defending. The ledger exists because both sides keep cheating in opposite directions.
