Settings since K7 asked, for the cheap farm-store unit most of you have: burst 3, interval 30 sec unless you are on a den or feeder, medium sensitivity, no time-lapse unless you know why, date stamp ON, height 24-30 inches for deer trails, lower for small mammals, level lens, test walk past it yourself at dusk and look at the result before you leave it a week.

If you only remember one thing: an unexplained single frame is not evidence. It is an invitation to improve the setup.
