Description

Marks sample output from a program or system.

Syntax

<SAMP>File not found</SAMP>

Attributes

None.

Usage Guidelines

• Use for command output, messages and examples returned by a program.
• Use KBD for what the user types and SAMP for what the machine prints.
• For many lines of output, put SAMP-like text in PRE.
• Keep the surrounding explanation clear.

Common Mistakes

• It may look the same as CODE or TT in some browsers.

Authoring Note

Write the document first, then test it in a graphical browser and a text browser. The page should remain understandable if images fail, colours are ignored, or the browser uses its own fonts.
