[staff] This comes up every few months, usually from someone arriving from the other place, so here it is in writing and locked so it cannot turn into the very thing it warns against.

We are not Godlike Productions. I say that with no contempt for GLP -- it does a thing, fast and loud and unfiltered, and that thing has its place. But it is not this thing. Over there, the signal-to-noise ratio is the point; the flood IS the experience. Here, we are trying to keep a smaller, slower fire alight: threads you can still read in a year, claims attached to dates, a moderation team that moves threads and removes hoaxes and otherwise leaves you alone.

What that means in practice. We will not delete your thread for being wrong; we will move it to the right board. We will not ban you for an unpopular belief; we will ban you for a manufactured photograph. We are slower to lock and quicker to merge. And we will, gently and repeatedly, ask you for your source, because the asking is the whole culture.
