Third cam this spring. Somebody is MOVING them. Not knocked by a bear, not slipped on the strap -- moved, re-aimed at the road, and once switched off and back on so the timestamp resets. Animals do not reset a timestamp. I am not saying it is the squatch. I am saying it is a person who does not want me filming that draw, and I am starting to think it is somebody who reads this board, because the only people who knew where cam 2 was are in my old PM thread.

Verge, breathe. I have had every one of those happen and every one had a boring cause: bears DO re-aim them (they mouth the housing), cheap straps creep, and the "timestamp reset" is almost always a dying CR123 browning out the clock. Before you decide a person is doing it, post the make and the battery type and the exact mount, and let me rule out the dull stuff. I do this all day. Nine times in ten it is the batteries.

It is not the batteries, Tony, I run lithiums and I log the voltages. I know how this sounds. But cam 2 was in a spot I named to exactly ONE person on here and now that spot is the one getting hit. You do the arithmetic. I have a guess who and I am about done being polite about it.

Mate, I have read your stuff for two years and I like you, so take this as a friend: do NOT name a name in public over a moved trail cam. Even if you are right -- and you are probably not, it is the bears -- the second you put someone's name to "sabotage" on a public board you are the one in the wrong and the only one who gets hurt is you. PM Tony the specs. Go for a walk. Sleep on it.

I have slept on it for a month. I am done. It is [text removed by staff] and I can prove it, he has posted about that exact ridge, and he lives at [redacted] [redacted] -- yes I found it, it took an afternoon -- and I am going to drive up there this weekend and [several lines removed by staff] see how HE likes being [redacted]. The rest of you knew and said nothing. [redacted]

Well. I wish he had sent me the battery specs. For anyone who finds this later: it really is almost always the batteries or a bear, and if you ever genuinely think a person is interfering with your gear, that is a thing for the local sheriff and a padlock box, not for a public accusation and certainly not for whatever that was. Sad way to lose a member who knew his woods. Lock it, I think.
