はじめまして. New here from Osaka, longtime reader, finally an account after about two years of lurking.

i came for the world-cryptids board -- Hibagon_Watcher's dataset is the reason, it is the only place the Hibagon reports are treated with any care in English -- and then i stayed up reading the experiencers board at 3am, which my English is honestly not good enough for, but the kindness translates fine.

i do not have a case. i do not have a sighting. i just did not want to be a number in the lurker count anymore, so: hello, once. i will probably go back to lurking now. but hello.

ようこそ, OsakaReader. Lurkers becoming names is good for the board, even if they go quiet again. You do not need a case to belong here. Half the useful people in the archive started with "I only read."

If you want Japanese-language threads, the Asia desk is open, and if you want to write in Japanese, write in Japanese. We will bridge what needs bridging.

ありがとうございます. I am glad the dataset helped. The English internet repeats the same three Hibagon sentences forever and loses all the dates, villages, and witness context, which is where the case actually lives.

Post in Japanese if you like. A clean short note in your own language is worth more than a nervous long one in someone else's.

札幌からこんにちは. I also made account and then hid for months, so you are already doing better than me. My English is slow but people here wait, mostly.

Not every new person needs to bring a monster to the door. Sometimes we bring translation, or a memory, or just one more witness that the board is read outside America.

Seconding this from the European lurker pile. My handle is from an old taped cartoon, not because I know anything about Finland or cryptids, which is a useful reminder that usernames are mostly old furniture people carry from site to site.

Hello, OsakaReader. The kindness translating fine is exactly why I stayed too.

For the record-keepers: introductions like this matter. A forum is not only its posters. It is also the readers who know where the careful threads are, who translate privately, who send one correction, who do not want to be the subject of anything.

Welcome. Lurk with a username. It is allowed.

Not Japanese, not an expert, just another person whose username is a childhood book and not a job description. I made an account after six months because somebody in an experiencer thread said "you can be frightened and still be careful" and I needed that sentence.

So hello from another once-only hello person. Sometimes that one hello is enough.

Thank you. I did not expect replies and now I am embarrassed in a good way. I will try the Asia desk when I have something useful, maybe translation note first, not theory.

MoominTape is right about usernames. Mine is true only because I could not think of anything better. Maybe boring names are also allowed. Good. I can do boring.
