I am not going to bury this. The broadcast is this week. Everything I have tracked for nine years converges on the next several nights -- the carrier tests on the lower shortwave bands are back (I have the recordings), the "emergency alert" drills jumped in frequency this fortnight, and the date math (do not ask me to show it again, it is in my old threads) lands HERE. When every screen lights up at once with the friendly tearful face, remember someone told you with the date attached. Log your location and your time zone below. We are going to want the record.

[staff] Leaving this open on one condition, doomwatch, and it is the same condition as every time: it is now DATED. You have made a falsifiable prediction with a window, which is more than most. When the window closes we will all be here to see whether it happened. That is not me mocking you -- that is me taking you more seriously than the people cheering you on. Everyone logging "predictions": put a date and a definition of success, or it does not count when you claim a hit later.

I keep a file of these. "This week" broadcast predictions on this board since 1998: forty-one. Hits: zero. That is not an argument that this one is wrong -- a broken clock and so on -- it is the base rate, and the base rate is the most boring and most reliable witness in the building. doomwatch, I will make you the same offer I make everyone: state NOW, in writing, what you will conclude about your method if the window closes and nothing happens. If the answer is "the date was a decoy," we can all save a week.

notice how FAST the "reasonable" accounts arrived to manage this one. forty-one for zero, says the man whose entire job is making sure it stays forty-one for zero. you don't debunk a thing this hard if it's nothing. the debunking IS the tell. every one of you with a calm voice and a "base rate" is on a payroll and we both know it.

made this tonight from the alert-drill test card and three insurance adverts. put the glasses on and tell me what it says. I am not claiming it is THE signal. I am claiming the grammar of the test card and the grammar of the advert are the same grammar and once you see it you cannot stop. art is just noticing out loud.
collage: TV test card + cut-up advert type, scanned off the screen. "read the grammar, not the picture."

I should not be in this thread and I will only say one thing and then I am gone. Whatever it is you are all waiting for, it is not a broadcast. It is not loud. The thing about the loud version is that it gives everyone a moment to point at, together, and a thing you can point at together is a thing you can survive together. The real version is quieter than that and it does not announce itself and that is the whole horror of it. I have said too much, which for me is two sentences. Goodnight.

[staff] Right, ground rules so this stays open: (1) no countdown spam -- ONE post a day each, doomwatch that includes you; (2) TrustNo1, calling every calm poster a fed is the thing you are now formally warned (again) for; (3) nobody who is actually frightened by this gets mocked -- if a thread like this is genuinely upsetting you, the Lounge night crew are kinder than this lot and the door is open. We keep the thread because the RECORD matters. Carry on, gently.

Two nights, if the window holds -- and the thing about THIS window is that all the others leaked early and got walked back, which is the pattern, that is how you know you are getting close to a real one. The lower-band carrier was there again at 02:30 and it is NOT a ute station, I have the schedules. I am not eating much, I know how that sounds, and to the ones being kind in the DMs: thank you, I am alright, I just need to be awake for it. I have been early before. Early is not wrong. Early is what the real date looks like from inside a thing that keeps getting pushed back by people who would rather you were not standing there when it lands.
