I am not much for opening old wounds, but after the night before last I wanted a straight account of how an ordinary day looks after an odd one. I am usually a quiet reader here, not a regular voice. Two nights ago I slept as normal, woke once with a strange ringing in the ears and a sense of urgency, made myself a glass of water, checked the door and window, and went back to bed. That is all. I did not find anything out of place by the time I rose, though the first few minutes of waking were filled with small details that felt larger than they were.

This is what worried me: by the second day everyone in the office had a version, and each version had a sharper edge. The easiest thing, in my experience, is to start with the map and work backward, and the easiest error is to force it to fit. The memory seems to demand that shape. So I did what I can do: I timed myself through a normal morning, wrote one log by hand, and then carried on with work calls, bills, and the usual irritation of a printer jam. If routine restores scale, then routine is not the enemy of truth. That is my test, not a dramatic one.

I mention this because I know many here use hypnosis as a tool, and that is not for me. I do not mean to argue policy, only to avoid adding to my own fog. If anyone asks, I can pass the exact times and what I wrote down. I am more interested in keeping my life ordinary than in being remembered for one night story that can be remade every time it is told.
