Is electronic publishing legitimate?

I'm a grad student. Is putting work on a computer disk and calling it a book real publishing, or just a fad?

It's legitimate if the work is edited, produced, and distributed with care. The technology is new but the standards are the same.

We have been doing electronic editions for three years. Libraries buy them. Readers buy them. It counts.
