Writing effective query letters

I keep getting form rejections. My query is one page but maybe something is wrong with it. Any advice?

One page. Specific hook in first paragraph. No "gripping" or "heartwarming". SASE always.

Target the right agent. Research recent sales. Generic letters go to the bottom of the pile.

I got a personal note after mentioning a short story credit. The agent asked for sample pages.

Track your submissions. Six to eight targeted queries at a time. Revise the letter if no responses after a round.
